PHIL LANCE / CANADIAN AUTHOR
Stories begin
somewhere beyond.
I write fantasy and LitRPG: stories of exploration, magic, and characters discovering just how far they can go.
Welcome to my world. Here, I share the stories I’m creating and the journey of bringing them to life.

01 / THE AUTHOR
Phil Lance.
A writing adventure.
I’m a Canadian author at the beginning of my writing journey. Through Atlantis Rising, I’m building a world I’m as eager to explore as I am to write about.
This site is also my journal: ideas coming to life, scenes that won’t cooperate, discoveries, and small victories. I’d like to share that journey with you, one story at a time.
02 / A WORLD IN THE MAKING
Atlantis Rising
Ryan Ashford has always dreamed of exploring another world. At twenty-four, he finally steps through the Atlantis portal for his first mission on Aetherra. A lowly porter on a prospecting team, he hopes to earn his place among the people he admires.
But the Veiled Reach holds more than wonders. His first expedition will overturn everything he thought he knew about his future.

Behind the stories.
How does an idea become a scene? When is it time to rewrite, and when should you simply keep going? Here, I’ll share my experiments, my uncertainties, and what writing teaches me.
Building a world
The characters, places, and rules that bring Atlantis Rising to life.
Finding my voice
The joy of writing, first drafts, and the work of revision.
